CR KIDS – KIDDISHNESS: ZAZIE DANS LE MÉTRO

One hundred years ago, in Carnegie Hall in New York, Chaplin presented The Kid. It was his first feature film and drew on a daring mixture of comedy and melodrama. The Little Tramp, already well-known to spectators around the world, this time found himself dealing with an abandoned child (played by Jackie Coogan). Their meeting resulted in one of the most bizarre but tender families in the history of cinema. We dedicate this varied programme to the Little Tramp, to little John, and the many little rascals who have populated the big screen.
From Zazie, the ten-year-old girl who arrives from the Paris suburbs with the dream of travelling on the metro, to the unforgettable Addy in Paper Moon, the little rascals presented here face the incomprehension, and sometimes hostility, of the adult world with the most congenial tool they possess: a healthy dose of fantasy. The programme is completed by a selection of contemporary animated shorts and a couple of archival jewels from the beginning of the 20th century.
