The friends of Peter recount.

The opening event of this year’s festival is dedicated to the memory of Peter von Bagh, who passed away last September. Artistic director of Il Cinema Ritrovato for thirteen years, von Bagh was a one-of-a-kind critic of culture and writing, an auteur-director of more than sixty films, a director of cinematheques, a professor of cinema, a man of intellectual refinement and a great communicator, and from his marginal strip of land, Finland, he knew how to become a reference point in the life of international cinema. Peter was also a great weaver of human relationships, of exchanges and of friendship: The 1000 Eyes of Dr von Bagh will be an occasion, for his many friends, to remember and to celebrate him together with the public of Il Cinema Ritrovato. Those unable to attend, can send a written memory via email; their words will be published on the Festival website. The event will be conducted by Gian Luca Farinelli.
