This interview with Sternberg by André S. Labarthe (edited by Noel Burch) for the famed series Cinéastes de notre temps was filmed in Paris on october 24, 1966. It is one of the finest evocations of the director’s thoughtful personality, his philosophy of film as an art form, and his appraisal of his own career, intercut with clips from several of his films, especially The saga of Anatahan
