Film Notes

Emerging from the darkness come images of everyday objects, water and insects, some of Kucia’s favourite motifs. Fragments of fading memories are recalled while the rhythmic motions of the day’s work drone on, once more intertwining with the soundtrack. Gradually building his own individual style, Kucia exceeded the boundaries of animated film as his repertoire grew. Through accessing inner experiences of the human kind, Kucia was able to explore areas rarely visited by film makers and touch on those subjects which had previously been left to the domain of music and poetry. The formula of the shredded, nervous editing tends towards that of experimental film, while the accuracy of observation leaves it feeling reminiscent of a documentary. The aesthetic could have emanated from the artist’s previous experience with traditional printmaking techniques. Critics called the film “a study of loneliness”.
