Film Notes

A story told in gestures. This time the country girl, having been painted, follows the artist, Philippe, to town. She is deeply unhappy there and returns home, with her small daughter Madeleine, to die. Her fiancé Pierre, whom she had left for the painter, has gone travelling to forget his sorrows. Years later Philippe comes to claim Madeleine as his daughter and Pierre falls in love with the youngster, who is the image of his lost Jeanne. Bousquet suggests “Albert Capellani” or “Adrien Caillard” as director. The matter of the author is not cleared up also for other films and Caillard is mentioned as co-director or director in La Maison du Baigneur (1913) and La Belle Limonadière (1914).
