Film Notes

A real discovery from Il Cinema Ritrovato is a film directed by an almost unknown director, which presents great interest and unforeseeable qualities. Leo Mittler had undoubtedly a great sense of visuals and was inspired by the contemporary avant-garde. The film was originally a shot silent but was meant as a post-sync sound version. The print found at the Cinemateca Brasileira was silent, and meant for sound-on-disc projection. Unfortunately the discs are lost, and therefore Es Gibt eine Frau is turned silent again!
