Film Notes

This is the very first ethnographic film in the colonial collection at the Cinemateca Portuguesa. This film may have been exhibited at the International Colonial Fair in Paris, 1931, where its author won a gold medal. It focuses on aspects of native life – everyday life, work and festivities – in several regions of Mozambique, shown here as a world apart from colonial rule. The Colonial Agency exhibited it for a long time.
