Film Notes
An endless sliding harvest landscape is fused with the rhythmic procession of reapers, scythes, blades, hay bales, flails and hay wagons on a countryside road. Musicians and their instruments are interwoven with workers and their agricultural machinery. The whistling and scratching of wagon wheels gaining acceleration becomes a part of the instrumental backdrop. In Parada, music is a key element, working in harmony with the image. Joseph Rychlik created the track to be perfectly synchronised with the leading layer of narrative. In opinion of Kucia probably the best music for his film. The unique feel to the image results from innovative technology developed with engineers from the AGH University of Science and Technology – the use of a laser light in the initial explosion of the image. This use of advanced technology helped Kucia to construct an ephemeral, dreamlike and pulsating feel to the image. It is not without reason that Giżycki called Kucia ‘a movie impressionist’.
