After Gösta Werner completed Stiller fragment in 1969, three further fragments turned up in the early 80’s, and they were then duplicated and copied onto safety stock.
The most interesting of these three fragments is the oldest, the 1913 När kärleken dödar, starring Victor Sjöström as a painter. In this brief fragment (running just over two minutes) Sjöström proves what a great actor he was, expressing a wide range of emotions, sometimes to the other characters in the scene and sometimes only to the camera. Sjöström acted under Stiller’s direction on several occasions, most noticeably in the Thomas Graal films.
