Film Notes

The protest movement of the unions of directors, screenplay writers, and film technicians against the Blum-Byrnes agreement of May 28, 1946, considered dangerous for the survival of French film with the arrival of American films on French screens after the war. First part (sound): Micheline Presle, Marcelle Derrien and François Périer organize a fundraising event for the children of film technicians; Gaston Modot and Serge Reggiani act out a parody of Le Mystère de la chambre jaune. Second part (sound): protest march from la Madeleine to Place de la République, January 5, 1948, against the Blum-Byrnes agreement; Yves Deniaud’s call for defending French film in 1949.
