Midnight Sun Film Festival takes place in the midst of nowhere, beyond the polar circle in the Finnish Lapland. It has become a near-mythical event, visited by the most important filmmakers of the world. It’s one speciality is a two-hour discussion every morning. The hundred-some discussions, filmed during the 25 years of the festival, form the basis for Sodankylä Forever, a 90- minute film directed by the festival director who also conducted the discussions during the 25 years of the festival; now the visitors, many of them already deceased, are all all present in a “heavenly dialogue” about the history of the 20th century, its fun and its tragedy. The film thus features, the first 4-part series, features an impressive cast, from Michael Powell to Marlev Hutsiev.
