Film Notes

“During a shipwreck on the Vltava river, the ferryman Chrapot saves a victim from the waves and takes him home with him. Duschnitz (the name of the man) seduces the ferryman’s wife. From their union, Jarda is born, destined to a career as a pimp. The latter with the help of Betka, manages to open a Night Club. However he is arrested by the police and, during his imprisonment, Luisa, Betka’s sister and Jarda’s lover, seeing herself lost, places herself in the hands of another pimp, Busch. When Jarda is released from prison, he foils the plans of Busch, makes a reconciliation with his step-father, marries Luisa and begins a new life.

A very well-made film, with a certain sensualism which recalls Erotikon or Tonka Sibenice. Good actors. the director of the film is Hans Tintner, the author in those years of the excellent German film Cyankali”.
