Film Notes

The tasks of the first film made by the “Kuleshov workshop” were defined by the director as follows: a) to find out how our theories look on screen; b) to test our technical productive capabilities; c) to create a successful box-office movie.” Mr. West effectively demonstrates Kuleshov’s main principle in directing – a precise organization of all elements of the film. This principle is especially obvious in the meticulously orchestrated ensemble acting based on each of the players’ inimitable individual manner.
