Film Notes

“Robinet has an insupportable mother-in-law, who moreover so influences his wife as to turn her into a copy of herself. To escape her odious presence, Robinet invents for himself a work trip, but the mother-in-law continues to obsess him with regular appearances in his dreams, in which she appears in the cos­tume of coachman, waiter, lover, etc. At last, waking with a start, he tries to drive away this incubus with his pillows. Fully awakened, Robinet realizes that he has only achieved disaster by wrecking his own bedroom; and moreover has succeeded in waking his mother-in-law, who was sleeping in the next room and immediately arrives to resurrect the incubus in reality”.
