Film Notes

The masters are out at a ball so the butler Josef decides to go out with his girl. Unfortunately he has to bring the master’s infant daughter because there is no babysitter… The surviving fragment of Hab’ns kan Dragoner g’seh’n? (Didn’t you see no Dragoon?), a short comedy produced by Sascha-Meßter-Film, includes attractive features such as outdoor scenes shot on Viennese rooftops and unexpected (and seemingly out-of-control) pyrotechnical special effects. Still a final identification of the fragment has not yet been possible: the original material has no edge codes, and though the style of the intertitles seems to match the usual Sascha titling of the period, the imprinted frameline caused by an unusually small camera window and the end titles do not correspond to typical Sascha productions.
