Il Cinema Ritrovato is an occasion to take a look at and further examine one of the Festival’s key themes: film restoration. This year’s lectures include in-depth analyses of individual restorations as well as a look at some wider issues, such as a reflection on the comparison between newly restored digital prints and original 35mm prints or the debate around the continued restoration of previously restored films due to technological advancements or the discovery of new material. The programme of restoration lectures has the specific aim of keeping alive the debate on restoration issues, as well as updating and providing information about specific case studies and the use of restoration technology.
