Il Cinema Ritrovato (Bologna, 21–29 June) will open its first evening in Piazza Maggiore with a 70mm screening of Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind. On the 100th anniversary of its release, Chaplin’s The Gold Rush will also grace the square, alongside a tribute to Katharine Hepburn: Feminist, Acrobat, Lover.

But the journey begins even earlier with Aspettando Il Cinema Ritrovato, which launches on 16 June and runs through 6 July, offering a preview of major restorations at Cinema Modernissimo and in Piazza Maggiore.

Among the distinguished guests, the Festival warmly welcomes: Terry Gilliam, Jim Jarmusch, Coline Serreau, Bob Wilson, Peter Suschitzky, Thierry Frémaux, Nicolas Seydoux, Alice Rohrwacher, Francesca Comencini, Joshua Oppenheimer, John Simenon, Altan, Brady Corbet, Jonathan Glazer, and Asghar Farhadi.
