Film Notes

Vanina, which Robert Desnos said to be one of the masterpieces of the german silent era, it is screened as restored by the Mùnchner Filmmuseum. This version is a collation of a B&W positive from the Cinémathèque Royale of Brussels and of a colored positive al the first part from the Cinémathèque Française. This colored part has, we think, a considerable importance for understand this lascinating film, by showing us (at least in part the chromatic splendour of the fire burning. Turin by night, which is the counterpoint of the passion burning within the characters).
