Film Notes
Travail, adapted from Zola’s novel and divided in 7 parts for an amount of 10.200 mts, is a film of a greater importance among the french silent films. It has been said that it was precursor of Lang’s Metropolis. In France the film was lost, but a print was found in USSR. The russian version is only 2300 mts long and it seems to be edited according to the sovietic style. Besides, the classes struggle aspectes of the story has been underlined. It could be possible that the western countries films (or at least some of them) were re-edited for the sovietic release according to the russian cinema style.
