Film Notes
As it was said, Whale’s The Old Dark House is a film “that grows at every vision”. A black comedy rather than an ‘horror-movie’, it is one of Whale’s less known films, though has an incredibly good cast of great performances, an unusual story and it is so well directed. The film was thought lost and it was found by one of Whale’s best friends, the director Curtis Harrington, and it was preserved by the George Eastman House. lt’s a perfect Midnight-movie!
