Film Notes

I remember in particular about the film, it is the way that Dolores del Rio treated her lovers, just like a praying mantis. The lovely Mexican had already become a star. Seeing how she impersonated a female Casanova, I knew I would have no trouble directing her. She went from one admirer to the next like Rahab of Jericho, and was adored by all of them.Seeing that, I was hit with an idea. I ordered a dozen roses. Dolores smiled at me when I gave her the longest rose and explained how she was to use it. When the suitor who clearly considered himself as having the best chance with her, got humbly on his knees before her, she was to use the rose as a whip to make him crawl. The spectators were enthusiastic, the reviews excellent.
