Film Notes

Mrs Enid Hammond is but one of several sweethearts of Montgomery Seaton, a married man. Enid tells Seaton that when she was young, she had an affair with a married man and became pregnant. When the nurse who raised the baby dies, Enid begs Seaton to tell the husband it is Seaton’s child, born out of wedlock. Mr Hammond finds a letter that leads him to believe that his wife is having an affair with Seaton. Enraged, he tried to kill Seaton but instead his wife is wounded. When Seaton’s wife finds out, Enid admits her past. This film was destroyed by Universal along with the rest of their silent productions. These few shots, discovered by Photoplay film editor Christopher Bird, contain just a flash of Chaney, but they make this the earliest of his features to survive in any form.
