Another example of ‘original’ problem. This film was re-made three times because the negative was worn. The Natianal Film Archive found two versions and preserved them by printing them anamorphized on a 35 mm, to screen them side by side for comparison.
“Holding somewhat the same position in British cinema as The Great Train Robbery in American, as the first major achievement in the fiction film. […] The film’s main significance is its advanced editing and continuity technique. […] Re-made three times, the original cost was under £8, and it sold nearly 400 prints.
