Film Notes

Even though the history of the different versions of this classic film has been the subject of several scholarly articles, there are still many unresolved questions. It seems clear that there were two different negatives and several examples of shots will be shown, comparing the authoritative print discovered in Oslo in the early 1980s, with a version using the alternate takes of the same shots. Some prints, however, contain important shots that are missing altogether from the Oslo print. Examples of these will be shown as well.
