Film Notes

This short film shot on 16mm is a student film from the Deutsche Film-und Fernsehakademie in Berlin. It is an exercise film by Gerd Conradt, created in a camera seminar led by Michael Ballhaus. The topic on the curriculum was ‘colour’, and the result of this exercise is a real gem. It is 1968: a red flag is carried in a relay race through the city of Berlin. The relay race, in which a total of 15 people are involved, starts in the Schloßstraße in Berlin’s Steglitz district and ends at the town hall of Berlin-Schöneberg. Here, at its final destination, the red flag is raised on the balcony.
