Film Notes

Dollari e fraks takes place (…) in America, where the mysterious and fascinating Querida attempts to enmesh Za in order that the ruthless Paralitico, her accomplice, can escape deserved punishment for a crime he has committed. This time Za will be assisted by a bungling policeman, played by the witty Oreste Bilancia. Four episodes of overwhelming emotive uproar, at moments moving to irresistible hilarity. For this series film and for those of normal length (…) the public (…) went into ecstasies; the popular seats, especially in the afternoons, were crowded with boys who loudly cheered Za, righter of wrongs and inexorable chastiser, spurned, however, in the reviews, which were always ill-tempered and ready to stigmatise the excessive absurdity of the plot, the unorthodox prose of the intertitles, the discontinuities in the narrative.
