Film Notes

Not about the glories of Byzantium but about the fall of the city and its sacking at the hands of the sultan (1451-1453). This loss and the passage from a Greek and Latin Orient to a Muslim one (Saint Sophia’s cathedral transformed into a mosque) is told through slow tracking shots of the citadel’s ruins and its ramparts.
