Film Notes
Aside from its slapstick elements Between Showers is a comedy of contrasts – of character, action and motive. Charlie and Ford Sterling clearly belong to different classes. Sterling’s costume marks him as a middle-class “gentleman”. Apparently respectable, he quickly reveals himself as a thief. (…) Sterling’s mean-spirited, irascible attitude contrasts at every turn with Charlie’s good-humored, mischievous playfulness.
