Film Notes
“Notorische Reflexe” has now made a name for itself as a good New Wave band, and its appearances have the nature of special events, where films are flashed in and sometimes projected onto paper hanging in the hall, which is then ignited during the performance. Or sometimes, the musicians appear in white outfits reminiscent of spacesuits which are used as film surfaces. The groups greatest success to date, (also on disc), is the “Breshnev Rap”, in which a speech on the construction of socialism is accompanied by rap rhythms. In a film of the same title made by Knut Hoffmeister one sees the head of Breshnev in black and white with the montage of an animated red-lipped female mouth apparently speaking the words. Intercut between this are scenes from modern Moscow.
