“An adventuress, the first film he made in 1920, is a sort of operatic farce which plays on transvestism, where however it is not Valentino who dresses up: his is a secondary role, while the modestly famous Julian Eltinge and Fred Covert are decked out in women’s clothes, encountering a certain amount of success in the fabulous republic of Alpania,. The horizon, is still that of small productions, of scripts with a bizarre and improvised allure, sometimes inspired by films of greater fortune.
