Cinefilia Ritrovata: focus sul cinema di animazione

Al Cinema Ritrovato 2018 spazio anche al cinema di animazione, a cui Cinefiliaritrovata.it ha dedicato due articoli.

Segnaliamo l’articolo sui primi film d’animazione dal BFI National Archive e quello sul film cinese Tieshan gongzhu di Wan Laiming e Wan Guchan:

“Cinque film di breve ma intensa durata contraddistinguono la rassegna Ritrovati e Restaurati – Primi film d’animazione dal BFI National Archive, britannici, muti, sì, ma decisamente parlanti grazie all’ausilio di baloons presi in prestito dal mondo del fumetto in sostituzione delle comuni didascalie, tra cui Ever Been Had? (Dudley Buxton, 1917), Booster Bonzo: or, Bonzo in Gay Parade (1925) e Shadows! (Joe Noble, 1928)”.

Tieshan gongzhu is known to be the first Chinese animated feature film and is treasured as such by the CDCC in Paris. It was realized in Shangai during WWII, during the Japanese occupation. The conflict had been going on for decades and also had led to the Rape of Nanjing in 1936. Wan Guchan and Wan Laiming, the directors, wanted to make the movie to be a contribution to the resistance. “Seeing an apolitical story used for a political issue is an artistic approach that has been used and is used in China to this day” says Tony Rayns during the presentation”.
