Film Notes

Il quadro di Osvaldo Mars is undoubtedly one of the most interesting film we found during our researches. It is another evidence of how Eleuterio Rodolfi, both as director and producer, is as interesting as unconsidered. He was the son of Giuseppe Rodolfi, a famous actor; Eleuterio Rodolfi started his career as actor on the stage; he was hired by Ambrosio in 1911 where he both played and directed films as Gli ultimi giorni di Pompei (1913), Romanticismo (1915), Val d’Olivi (1915) and La fiaccola sotto il moggio (1916). In 1917 he founded his company, Rodolfi Film, which produced 41 movies from 1917 to 1922. Some of these films (until now completely unknown) were found by the Cineteca del Comune di Bologna at the Cinemateca Brasileira: Roberto Burat, La fuga di Socrate, Stecchini giapponesi, Il rosario della colpa, Amleto and Il quadro di Osvaldo Mars.
