Film Notes

“Erroneously conserved at the Gosfilmofund of Russia as a fragment of Baldassarre Negroni’s La signora delle camelie (1915) with Hesperia, it turned out to be the last reel of J. Gordon Edwards Camille (1917) with Theda Bada instead.
Thus another entry is added to the reconstructed filmography of one of the most celebrated ‘divas’ in the history of cinema; who at the same time is amongst the most unfortunate. Practically all of her work has been lost Camille for many of its viewers a pleasant encounter. It ought to rescind the opinion of many historians that Bara was nothing more than product of a well contrived publicity campaign. The brief  death of the ‘drifter’ fragment consents to the modification of the negative attention that the actress has suffered over the years”. (Vittorio Martinelli)
