Film Notes

In 1910 Louis Feuillade shot the first five films of his Bébé series, starring little René Dary (alias Clément Mary, 1905- 1974), with another forty to follow in 1911. In 1913 Feuillade replaced his first child star with a new five year-old, René Poyen alias Bout-de-Zan. When we meet René Dary again in Borowczyk’s 1968 Goto, l’île d’amour, we stagger, dazed, into the chasm between old and new.
