Friday July 1st 2016, 9am 12am Sala Auditorium, Piazzetta Pier Paolo Pasolini
InMICS is an international joint master’s degree programme under construction. A strategic partnership was established to work on its implementation, funded with support from the Erasmus+ programme for a 3-year period (from September 1, 2014 to August 31, 2017). It gathers both higher education institutions known for their expertise in music composition and specialized professional organizations in the film industry that show a great interest in the creation of music.
Altogether, 8 partners, across Europe and Canada, have joined forces to develop this International Master’s degree in Composition for the Screen.
This new 2nd cycle academic curriculum (InMICS) will be launched in 2018, and will be dedicated to international students wishing to work as composers for audio-visual media. Parallel to the development of this new academic programme, the partners published a study based on feedback from both the academic and professional domains entitled Music Composition for the Screen: Picture of a Profession and Challenges for Higher Education. This publication shows the dynamism of this field and underlines its specific characteristics in order to identify the issues at stake for higher education. The partners also organise creative workshops with students in composition and audio-visual arts from Belgium, Canada, France and Italy to work together on collaborative projects under the auspices of professional guests. They regularly schedule transnational meetings, dissemination events, conferences, etc. in order to test and share the results of their work.
