Film Notes

This is the story of Michele, a farmer, who tells the audience about the corns on his hands, brought on by fifty years of work. His land is all he has. There is also the story of a nameless farmhand, who works as a hired hand and would like nothing more than to become like Michele. After establishing this initial picture, once again the Catholic cinematographic propaganda puts forward the what would happen if rhetoric. Its answer is: if Italy were to become a Soviet Socialist Republic the farmer Michele and the farmhand would both be transformed into hard labourers without freedom, without a future.
