Gedda’s cinema artisans represent members of the Partito Comunista Italiano (Italian Communist Party) as cunning demagogues who strengthened bonds with other parties and turned labour unions into their political weapons. In order to stop the Communist onslaught, the Comitato Civico Nazionale raises the Italian flag and calls out to everyone who still believes in democracy.
