This is the first feature film by the italian director Mario Monicelli. It was produced by a group of young students who wanted to become filmmakers, within the GUF (Fascist University youth), which were lively cultural institutions in that time. Apart form its value as a film, it is quite interesting, being an example of the kind of cultural atmosphere in which a generation of italian intellectuals was raised. The film was originally shot in 16mm, as a non professional produtc. The only existing print was located In the Cineteca di Bologna thanks of the help of Mr. Cesare Civita, who participated in the making of the film.
