Film Notes
This home movie in 35mm contains rare images of actress Hedda Vernon. It was digitized from the original nitrate negative, the only element known to exist. The film was donated to the archives of the Cinémathèque Suisse in 1996 by a collector along with a few other home movies. The date of the film stock can be seen from the edge code: it was produced in 1928. Hedda Vernon had retired from the screen in 1925 and nothing was known of her later life, but now we have proof that she had a wonderful time for seven minutes in 1928 or 1929 feeding the pigeons on San Marco Square, swimming and diving near the beach with her friends, and laughing into the camera.
