WORKSHOPS: SILENT ANTIQUITY PRINTS UNIQUE TO THE BFI National Archive
Two workshops will screen some silent films set in antiquity that appear to have survived only in the British National Film Archive. Presentations will address the provenance of the prints, a current restoration (Bruto), the design of their ancient worlds (Santa Cecilia), national and gender differences in their representation of martyrdom (The Way of the Cross, Martire Pompeiana), and their frequent focus on sculpture (Pygmalion & Galatea) and architecture (L’Esclave de Phidias). Organised by the research project Museum of Dreamworlds.
Organised by the research project Museum of Dreamworlds, hosted by the University of Bologna.
Free admission.
