Tondo Film curates and disseminates programmes of independent animation shorts for children, with the goal of promoting and bringing to the public’s attention animation films by contemporary and past creators, films that employ a wide variety of playfully themed techniques and approaches. For the young audiences of Il Cinema Ritrovato Kids this year, it will present two programmes of shorts and an animation project yet to be seen in Italy: Haikino. A haikino is a brief short made collectively in three stages during workshops led by the directors Tristan Francia and Stéphanie Yang Chung. The word is a fusion of “haiku”, a short Japanese poem, and “kino”, movement in the cinematic sense. Haikino will precede all Il Cinema Ritrovato Kids 2025 screenings.

Sound Threads

A visual and auditory immersion into the often-overlooked sounds of nature: from the chirping of birds to the rustling of blades of grass moved by colonies of industrious ants, from the morning buzz of insects to the crackling of dry leaves inthe woods. An invitation to listen to the prodigious rhythms of nature and also to appreciate its silences.
