Film Notes

Angela Allen, the celebrated ‘script girl’ or continuity supervisor on such classic films as The Third Man, The African Queen and The Misfits, is now 96 but highly active, appearing at screenings and festivals – especially Il Cinema Ritrovato – around the world. She set the highest standards in her profession, working closely with such directors as John Huston (14 times), Ken Russell, Roman Polanski, John Frankenheimer and Franco Zeffirelli, as well as many stars, among them Katharine Hepburn, Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe and Marlon Brando. This short taster reveals work in progress on a full-length documentary about her illustrious life and career, using film extracts and rare archive (all to be confirmed) plus photographs from her personal collection. As well as indepth interviews with Angela herself – she has an amazing memory – there are encounters between her and colleagues in the profession, including Stephen Frears, Martin Sherman and Tariq Anwar, all forming a vivid picture of a remarkable woman in cinema.
