This documentary on Ingrid Bergman includes never-before seen archival footage shot in Sweden, Europe and America by the actress herself with a small-gauge camera, and the narrated excerpts from notes, letters and her personal diaries stem from the exceptionally rich Ingrid Bergman Collection at the Weyslean University Cinema Archives in Connecticut, to which the film-makers had unique access. Together with newly-shot interviews with all her children, these records provide new insights and perspectives on the life and career of Ingrid Bergman. Included in the film are also interviews with colleagues and collaborators, such as Liv Ullmann and Debra Winger.
Writer, critic and film-maker Stig Björkman’s career spans more than half-a-century, and his compilations of behind-the-scenes footage from the making of Ingmar Bergman films – Bilder från lekstugan (Images From the Playground) and …men filmen är min älskarinna (…but Film is My Mistress) – were screened at Il Cinema Ritrovato in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
