Cinema Reborn is an annual film festival held in Sydney that intends to shine a light on the long history of the art of the cinema, the world-wide activity of film restoration and the treasures that exist in the world’s film archives.
From 29 April to 2 May at the Ritz Cinema Randwick, Cinema Reborn will present ten programs of recently restored films and film archived-sourced film prints. All will be presented following best practice in the presentation of archival or screen heritage titles, and will reflect the originally intended experience of their creators.
In particular, two important restorations realised by Cineteca di Bologna at L’Immagine Ritrovata will be part of this year’s program: Il Gattopardo by Luchino Visconti and Le amiche by Michelangelo Antonioni
