Film Notes

1: “Le Vocaphone sans fil ou La Farandole électrique”: To help in his long struggle against the terrible “Pied qui étreint” (Foot Squee- ze) gang, the famous scientific detective, Justin Crepelle, has in- vented the “Wireless Vocaphone”. The evil bandit chief, “L’homme au foulard vert” (The Man with the Green Scarf), sends a powerful current down the phone line of a rich heiress, Hélène Forcedony, striking not only her, but also the two people who run to her rescue. The result is an interminable St. Vitus’ dance. 2: “Le Rayon noir”: To destroy the detective’s love for Hélène, the man with the green scarf points a black ray at her and turns her into a black woman. 3: “La Mort du ressuscité ou La Girouette du temple chinois”: The man with the green scarf tempts Hélène into a Chinese temple. 4: “L’homme au foulard vert”: Crecelle has found the address of the bandit’s lair in the phone book. Having laid siege to the house the detective finally sees the face of his enemy: it’s Charlot!
