Film Notes

Louis and Jacques, miners and friends, are in love with the same woman. But it is Louis that must attend Jacques’ wedding. Work in the mine is hard and the two friends go down the shafts. Suddenly a cry is raised: the mine is on fire! Jacques is still down… Louis offers to go down and save him. Soon the lift returns to the surface with Jacques, fainted. He regains his senses in his wife’s arms. Silence: the heroic Louis is dead.
