Film Notes

A car, a girl, a boy. Very important is the car, which is already laziness in itself, it is the greatest concretization of the idea of laziness ever introduced to us. We see this idea incarnated by the car owner (as an inflection of his attitude, his behavior, and his most minute personality traits): he, at the time of purchase, considered the car the ideal materialization of his dream of indolence. […] The ease with which this sketch succeeds for Godard is obvious, and we don’t quite know how to define a work that is a bit of a story with a theme and at the same time a bit of a farce.
