André S. Labarthe, co-creator together with Janine Bazin of the television series Cinéastes de Notre Temps, speaks very little of the cinema on this occasion. His thoughts turn to themes such as time, speed, death, reality, artistry, chance, manipulation and editing, starting off from what could be de ned ‘idea-things’ (pears, glass, dolls, snails). With a certain taste on his part, for overturning the interview form itself, it is a way of including the pretend in a documentary. A series of digressions, entrusted to Super 8 ashes, spring from this.
