Film Notes

Preparation for the carnival involves the entire city of Viareggio: from those responsible for making the allegorical floats, to the political personalities in the Versilian town. The parade by sea on festively decorated boats, feverish work, and finally, the float parade, where the intertitles reveal the name of each float and its builder. A historical document of a carnival, by now distant in time, that still maintains its appeal.
