By the time this film was released the Portuguese government was about to create an official agency to substitute the Portuguese Geographical Society, believing the activities it was responsible for should be carried out by the state and not left in private hands. These activities consisted also of surveys of natural resources in the colonies. What this film shows us now is how official policy took over and redefined colonial issue and, above all, the major role played by the Church in the social work carried out amongst the natives.
